We sand old floors back to the bare timber, then stain and finish them to a standard most sanders can't match. Restored, not replaced — at a fraction of the cost.
Years of foot traffic, old lacquer, tired stain, scratches and scuffs — most floors that look beyond saving simply need taking back to the bare wood and starting again.
We sand the old finish away completely, repair any damage, then rebuild the floor's colour and protection from scratch: fresh stain where a colour change is wanted, then a hard-wearing lacquer or hard-wax oil to seal it.
The result is a floor that looks new, costs far less than replacement, and keeps the character of the timber you already own.
Some floors are sanded and sealed as they are. Others get a full colour change. We'll tell you which yours needs at the site visit.
We check the timber, thickness and condition, and agree the colour and finish with you.
Old lacquer and stain sanded away to clean, bare wood using dust-extracting machines.
Gaps, splits, damaged boards and knots dealt with before any finish goes down.
Optional. A fresh colour applied and matched by eye — from pale oak to deep walnut.
Lacquer or hard-wax oil, built in coats, for a durable, even, hard-wearing surface.
Oak, walnut, ash and more — sanded and refinished to bring back depth and grain.
Refinished within the veneer's limits, so you get a new look without a new floor.
Block and pattern floors sanded and finished with care for the joints and lay.
Period softwood boards — nail heads, paint and gaps handled, character kept.
The fiddly hand-work most avoid — sanded and finished to match your floors.
Going lighter or darker? We stain and match to the shade you're after, tested first.
Our background is fine finishing and colour matching. Getting a stain exactly right — even and consistent across a whole floor — is the part most sanders get wrong. It's the part we're built for.
Splits, deep scratches, damaged boards and burns — repaired invisibly as part of the job, rather than left to show through the new finish.
Modern dust-extracting machines keep the mess to a minimum, so the disruption to your home is far less than the floor sanding of old.
If a floor is too worn to sand again, or replacement genuinely makes more sense, we'll tell you. We'd rather lose a job than sell you the wrong one.
